About Seeds of Hope International
Seeds of Hope International (SOHI) supports the education and physical well-being of seriously disadvantaged children in Africa, with our current focus on the Republic of Uganda. Many of these children have been orphaned due to various unfortunate circumstances that have befallen Uganda over the last several decades. All of the children are in circumstances that would prevent their receiving a good education without support such as what SOHI provides through the generosity of our contributors.
We seek to provide these children with the basic necessities of food, shelter and clothing. We fund their primary and secondary education to enlighten them about the many positive possibilities for their lives to help them escape from a cycle of despair. We empower them to become responsible individuals who not only will be able to take care of their own needs but who will also be capable of helping and inspiring others. When students excel in their studies we also seek to provide them with a post-secondary education in cooperation with sponsors who commit to funding such students' continued education.

Our Founder
Juliet Lorraine Ofwono began her dedicated life with Christ in 1989. Prior to founding Seeds of Hope International in 2000, Juliet spent several years as a volunteer with City Team Ministries working with children. She also taught Sunday school for eight years at Victorious Life Christian Center in California. Using puppets which she created, Juliet performed puppet shows to further interest children in the gospel of Christ.
Juliet has returned to Africa including Uganda and Tanzania several times over the past years, and has noted the growing crises among the children. Juliet is committed to making a difference for the Kingdom of God by working to help children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, war, and poverty. Juliet's desire is "To plant seeds of hope into the hearts of orphans and street children by giving them a promising future."
Juliet was born in Uganda, East Africa, attended kindergarten in Bonn, West Germany, elementary boarding school for girls in Essex, England, UK and school in Kampala, Uganda. Juliet attended high school and college in California.
Fleeing Uganda in 1976 with three of her siblings to Kenya, her mother and remaining sibling joined her 3 days later. She immigrated to the USA in September 1976 with the assistance of the American Embassy in Kenya. Her father, a civil servant and former Ugandan ambassador to Egypt, fled to Kenya from Uganda during the turbulent rein of Idi Amin.
